Spring Inspired Paintings

I love all seasons for different reasons, but Spring is rather special to me. Watching the emerging buds on the trees and the garden slowly wake up from a long winter’s sleep is a yearly thrill. The air grows warmer, the gentle chorus of birds returns to the yard, and the grass turns a rich green, bringing a fresh sense of hope and renewal.

Following the Flow

5.5” x 7” Watercolour Painting

December 2025

I started this piece while I was at the Craft Market. I find painting while there relaxes me and makes the time fly. I started this piece with the dragonfly and playing with it’s wings. After I had finished I had no idea what to do with the background, so I went to trying pointillism for the first time. A technique I could get addicted to as I found it very relaxing. I also enjoyed the flow it created with the painting.

Spring Morning

7” x 6” Watercolour Painting

February 2026

Winter has been snowy this year and as the snowbanks got higher I painted visions of Spring. This was different for me as I didn't do a background. Felt strange as I normally start with my backgrounds and fill every bit of paper. I like the illustration feel it ended up with.

Rest Stop

7.5” x 5” Watercolour Painting

May 2025

This piece was inspired from a photo I took at a rest stop in British Columbia when I was on a road trip. It was a peaceful stop and the sky seemed double in size as it reflected in the lake. The flowers were scattered everywhere, adding just enough colour.

Welcome to Our Garden

7.5” x 5.25” Watercolour Painting

March 2025

If you close your eyes and listen you can hear the busy bees and the happy grasshoppers. The Spring breeze is warm on your cheeks and sweet to your nose. With eyes open, the colourful flowers jump into view and the mushrooms are sure to sing a tune. Welcome to our garden, glad you could come.
